• Why use a fillet? A fillet is a small piece of moulding that sits inside the matting of a frame. Use fillets to add contrasting colors to your frame, separate art from a frame with a busy pattern, or add some depth to the width of your frame.
• Tips and advice: When selecting a fillet, you should always choose one that compliments your frame. Choose two contrasting styles (match a patterned frame with a plain fillet, or opposite colors) to give your frame some character and draw attention to your artwork. Fillets should never touch your art, so use frame sealing tape or another layer of matboard for protection.
